Sun 21 Mar Regular meeting: Rm 1228 Cathedral of Learning; 3:00pm
The program this month is titled "Finland Today." Two Finnish postdoctoral fellows from CMU willpresent a view of everyday life and advanced scientific development in Finland. Minna Lind from theDepartment of Material Science and Engineering will discuss steel making and the steel inclusionmodification on the field that she is studying, and her family's hobby of boating on the Baltic Sea.Janne Lindqvist who is from the Human-Computer Interaction Institute will discuss privacy andcomputers. Each of the talks will be about 20 minutes. Members are requested to bring a dish/dessertfor the pot luck dinner that will follow.


Scholarship Update
Congratulations to our scholarship recipient, Sam Pittman. Sam is a poet and plans on traveling to Icelandto study sagas. Those that attended the open house at the University of Pittsburgh had an opportunity tomeet Mr. Pittman. The committee was impressed with his qualifications and unanimously agreed toaward the scholarship.

Upcoming Elections
At this time the Board is looking for persons to serve on the Nominating Committee. This committee will select the members to be placed on theJune ballot for the election of the 2010-2011 Society officers. If you are willing to serve on this committee, please contact a board member.
